Laryea Kingston Confirms Interest in Black Stars Coaching Job
Former Ghana international Laryea Kingston has confirmed his interest in becoming the next head coach of the Black Stars.

Former Ghana international Laryea Kingston has confirmed his interest in becoming the next head coach of the Black Stars.
Kingston, who currently works with Uganda’s U-17 national team, said he would welcome the opportunity to lead Ghana’s senior national team if the Ghana Football Association (GFA) approaches him.
The former Black Stars winger believes Ghana needs a long-term approach to rebuilding the national team. He has called for a coach to be given at least five years to develop a competitive side rather than being judged solely on immediate results.
“I’m a Ghanaian, and I would love to hear that call [from the FA] to come and coach the team. There is no better joy than helping your country,” Kingston said.
His comments come after the GFA and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation constituted a five-member committee to identify and recommend a suitable candidate for the vacant Black Stars coaching position. The committee is chaired by former GFA Vice-President Fred Pappoe and includes former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah.
Kingston has previous experience with Ghana’s youth national teams and has also gained coaching experience outside the country. He resigned as head coach of the Black Starlets in May 2024.
The GFA’s search committee is expected to assess potential candidates before making its recommendation for the vacant position.
