In a social media post, Gyampo said the domestic terminal is becoming more efficient than some international airports, highlighting the changes passengers are experiencing during security checks.
“Our domestic Airport Terminal, now becoming more efficient than somebody’s international airport,” he wrote.
According to Gyampo, the new scanners are operational and have eliminated some of the more cumbersome aspects of airport security screening.
He noted that passengers are no longer required to remove laptops from their bags during screening, while the need to take off shoes and belts has also been reduced.
The political commentator described the development as a positive step and called for the improvements to be sustained.
“New scanners working, no taking out of laptops and humiliating removal of shoes, belts and sometimes even dresses. Let’s maintain,” he stated.
The comments have sparked reactions online, with some social media users welcoming the improved screening experience and calling for similar modernisation across Ghana’s airports.
