Paul Afoko Says Kennedy Agyapong Dismissed ‘The Base Movement’ Rumours
Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman Paul Afoko says Kennedy Agyapong has told him that rumours linking him to The Base Movement are false.

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman Paul Afoko says Kennedy Agyapong has told him that rumours linking him to The Base Movement are false.
Afoko, who is seeking to return to the NPP National Chairmanship, reportedly said Agyapong described the reports about his involvement with the movement as mere rumours and asked that they be disregarded.
The comments come amid continued public discussion about The Base Movement, which was launched in April 2026 by businessman Dr George Oti Bonsu. At its launch, Oti Bonsu said the movement sought to promote youth participation and national transformation.
Agyapong's name has nevertheless continued to feature prominently in discussions surrounding the movement. In April, NPP Communications Director Richard Ahiagbah said Agyapong was not interested in leading a political organisation outside the NPP.
There have also been statements from figures associated with The Base Movement suggesting that Agyapong could eventually lead the group, highlighting the conflicting claims surrounding his relationship with the movement.
Afoko's latest comments therefore add to the public record of statements distancing Agyapong from claims that he has adopted The Base Movement as a separate political vehicle.
