Vice President Calls for Stronger Action Against Malnutrition

Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has called for sustained investment, stronger public institutions and increased international cooperation in the fight against malnutrition.

Speaking at the 7th Micronutrient Forum Global Conference in Accra, the Vice President described malnutrition as one of the most persistent challenges to human development.

She stressed the need for collective and coordinated efforts among governments, development partners, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to address the various forms of malnutrition.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang noted that tackling malnutrition requires more than short-term interventions, urging sustained investment in nutrition programmes and stronger institutions capable of delivering effective and lasting solutions.

She further called for greater international cooperation to ensure that countries can better respond to nutrition challenges and improve the health and wellbeing of their populations.

The conference brings together experts, policymakers, researchers and development partners to discuss strategies for improving nutrition and addressing micronutrient deficiencies globally.
