Norwich City Honorary Life President Michael Wynn Jones Dies Aged 85

Norwich City have confirmed the death of Michael Wynn Jones, the club’s honorary life president, at the age of 85.

Wynn Jones, who was the husband of renowned chef and Norwich City figure Delia Smith, was closely associated with the club for many years and played a significant role in its ownership alongside his wife.

The couple became majority shareholders of Norwich City in 1997 and remained deeply involved with the club for almost three decades. During their tenure, Norwich experienced several memorable moments, including promotions to the Premier League.

In 2024, Wynn Jones and Smith stepped down as majority shareholders following the completion of a takeover led by American businessman Mark Attanasio. In recognition of their contribution to the club, Wynn Jones was later appointed an honorary life president.

Away from football, Wynn Jones enjoyed a successful career in publishing. He worked as an editor and was involved with several publications before establishing his own publishing company.

Norwich City expressed its condolences to Delia Smith, Tom and the wider Wynn Jones family following his passing.

The club also appealed to supporters and the public to respect the privacy of the family during this difficult period.
