High Court Issues Warrant for EOCO to Arrest Manhyia South MP
The High Court in Accra has issued a warrant authorising the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to arrest Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South.
The High Court in Accra has issued a warrant authorising the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to arrest Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South.

The development follows an earlier attempt by EOCO officials to take the MP into custody at the Accra High Court on September 23, 2026.
EOCO previously said the attempted arrest was connected to an ongoing investigation and followed two invitations issued to the MP in February 2026, which the agency said were not honoured.
The MP, however, disputed EOCO’s account, saying the invitations were directed to him in his former capacity as Senior Partner of Sarkodie Baffour Awuah and Partners, rather than to him personally as a Member of Parliament. He also questioned the circumstances surrounding the attempted arrest at the court premises.
A February 2026 EOCO letter that later surfaced indicated that the agency was seeking information connected to an investigation involving SIC Life Savings and Loans Company Limited.
The September 23 incident attracted public attention after footage circulated showing an EOCO official approaching the MP outside the court. The attempted arrest was not completed after the situation escalated.
The latest court order provides EOCO with a formal legal basis to proceed with the arrest of the Manhyia South MP.
The development comes amid wider discussions about the legal processes applicable to Members of Parliament and the relationship between parliamentary responsibilities, law-enforcement investigations and the courts.
The case remains subject to the relevant legal processes, and the allegations underlying the EOCO investigation have not been established as facts against the MP.
