The Ghana Health Service (GHS), in collaboration with Jhpiego and the Breast Society of Ghana, has launched this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month campaign with a call for greater awareness, early detection and timely treatment.
The campaign highlights the importance of identifying breast cancer early and seeking appropriate medical care promptly, as early diagnosis can improve treatment outcomes.
According to global estimates cited by the campaign, approximately 2.4 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2024, while about 694,000 deaths were recorded worldwide.
The campaign seeks to encourage conversations around breast cancer and promote awareness of the importance of regular checks and timely medical attention.
The organisers are urging the public to be proactive about breast health and to seek medical advice when they notice concerning changes.
The campaign message is simple: talk about breast cancer, check early and act in time.
